We’re kicking off today with a great release, from a great label.
Fridays mean new music, we all know that by now. And what better way to kick off this weekend than with a fresh new call-and-response EP coming from Australia. Today, Perth-based imprint Amon Vision offers a new chapter in their sonic story, and we’re here for it. Their latest is called Dark Matter, and it’s comprised of the original homonymously-named single by Michael Alan — his debut single —, and a killer Trancier spin of his track, coming from the hands of none other than Will Rees.
Michael Alan
A local hero, Michael Alan is a DJ, Vocalist and Producer from Perth, with a rather strong bond with Electronic music. One of his highlights is his YouTube channel, where he consistently uploads hourlong sets compiling the best of Trance, Progressive, and Melodic House, among other genres. He’s produced a couple of remixes in the past, but now the time has come for him to land an original and lay his producing foundation.
Will Rees
Will Rees, a renowned Welsh artist, flies his sound across the oceans for today’s release. Renowned for his ability to seamlessly blend Trance and Techno elements, Rees has released music on the biggest labels, and he’s travelled the world spinning his largest hits and IDs, which span close to 15 years.
‘Dark Matter’
As previously mentioned, in the EP you’ll find ‘Dark Matter’ in two flavours: Alan’s Original Mix, and Rees’ Remix.
Original Mix
With a distinct blend of sounds, Michael Alan’s ‘Dark Matter’ features groovy plucks, catchy percussion, and heartfelt male vocals, to make this one a very special release. The song contains House chords, Progressive beats, and Trance atmospheres to make you fly away, as well as gated leads and sustained vocal beds that finish texturing the track on all fronts.
Will Rees Remix
You’ll notice a change of pace right away. Bar 33 hits us with Will’s distinctive Tech Trance kicks, which lay the foundation for the vocal. Powerful and festival-ready, this take on ‘Dark Matter’ includes electric leads, dreamy pads, and fairy-like plucks, and it builds towards turning the original into a pure Trance record with reflective breaks, and potent drops. Albeit, very respectfully so, retaining the core elements from the original.
