Katy Perry’s Production Team In Hot Water Over Ibiza Video Shoot

Oh my! Pop Star Katy Perry and her team are under investigation for a video shoot they did in Spain on a protected beach without permission. The singer was shooting a video for her single ‘Lifetimes’ on the island of Ibiza in a national park with protected wildlife, and authorities were not having it.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fishery, and Natural Environment announced that they opened an investigation into the video shoot that took place in the Parc Natural de Ses Salines. This region is a UNESCO World Heritage Reserve that covers the islands of Formentera and Ibiza.

Given the reports, the artist was involved in a video shoot on the dunes islet of s’Espalmador, which serves as a protected sanctuary for flora and fauna. The government has explained that it is not illegal to film without authorization. However, Perry’s team did not request a permit to shoot the video, hence the investigation taking place.

The production team WeOwnTheCity and director Stillz guided Katy Perry in her ‘Lifetimes’ music video, which premiered Thursday. The video shows the singer dancing around the dunes and on a boat, leading into a nightclub.

Although the investigation is still in process, we can expect the government to hold the team accountable for the lack of authority on the shoot. Formentera has been UNESCO World Heritage since 1999 and it nests over 200 species of birds. Moreover, it grows an endemic species of seagrass that’s necessary in the Mediterranean Sea’s ecosystem.

So what do we think? Do you think Katy Perry and her team should have been more cautious with the matter?
