Lollapalooza Mainstage Is 100% Battery Powered

Lollapalooza announced its Main Stage is entirely battery powered including audio, lighting, video, and stage production. They are setting the precedent for festival sustainability. Live Nation’s sustainability initiative Green Nation, T-Mobile, and CES Power worked together to help Lollapalooza make history as the first major U.S. festival to power its main stage from a hybrid battery system.

The hybrid-powered stage will deploy over 1.5 MWh of battery storage capacity, minimizing the run time of biodiesel generators and resulting in significant fuel and emissions savings. It also had local benefits with reduced noise and air pollution leading to a better experience for all. They plan to share the results and learning from Lollapalooza for the rest of the festival world to learn from.

This year’s festival featured an activation from conservation organization Re:wild, which became an official global Lollapalooza partner earlier this year. The organization was founded by a group of renowned conservation scientists, together with Leonardo DiCaprio, to speak directly with music fans and educate them on ways to rewild their daily lives and communities.

Lollapalooza has a stacked lineup this year including SZABlink-182The KillersHozierSkrillex, Tate McRae, Zedd, Fisher, Four Tet and so many more.
