Listen to a magnificent track we recently came across.
New music everyone, who’s in?! Halfway through the week, we’re glad to bring you a fresh piece to help you get through what’s left of your Wednesday, and the coming days. This time, we welcome a returning talent with a terrific premise, and quite the news to deliver. Meet Joseph Julien.
Joseph Julien
Hailing from Canada, Joseph Julien turned to Electronic music over a decade ago, as part of the duo Danzfolk. He’s been supported by acts such as Gareth Emery, Above & Beyond, Armin van Buuren, and many more. With the launch of his imprint, KRE-81 RECORDS, Julien founded a safe place to release music with his own artworks, media, and more, all independently. The label recently surpassed the 100,000 stream mark, quite the deal.
And one of the most recent tracks released via KRE-81 is one of his very own productions, ‘ORIGINS’, a lovely Melodic Techno / Breakbeat hybrid which features the vocals of talented Montreal singer, DIA.
‘ORIGINS’
The track, out now everywhere, marks a very special point in Joseph Julien’s career: it is the first single lifted from his upcoming album, WHAT WE HAD, coming to stores later this year.
The song paints a picture of someone navigating through a challenging emotional landscape, as they are haunted by past memories, feeling isolated and disoriented in the present, and grappling with the inevitability of aging. The temporary solace found in fleeting connections (“dancing with a stranger”) only serves to underscore their deep-seated loneliness and longing for something more substantial and enduring.
“This song took us close to two years to finish. There was a point in time where we both heard it and knew it was the one. KRE-81 Records’ motto is all about that, not to over think and just create one.”
