On November 10th, David Guetta and Kim Petras collaboratively released ‘When We Were Young’. This new track, officially dubbed as ‘When We Were Young (The Logical Song)’, released via Warner Records, is a grand, creative musical piece from the legendary EDM DJ/producer and the new queen of pop. The track has hyperpop and piano sounds that David Guetta played that resembled late-’90s/early-2000s trance, that go alongside the upbeat and ambient vocals of Kim Petras. ‘When We Were Young’ signifies another step in David Guetta’s remarkable career
The release of ‘When We Were Young’ alongside Kim Petras is another success of David Guetta’s career, especially after his earlier successes of this year. Earlier this year, he released ‘Baby Don’t Hurt Me’ with Anne-Marie and Coi Leray. Afterwards, the Spotify global #1 hit ‘I’m Good (Blue)’ with Bebe Rexha came out and it became a banger that no one could not stop playing. The latter track later garnered about 2.2 billion global streams, as well as obtaining the #1 spot on official charts across 11 markets including the #1 spot on the Billboard US Top 40 and US Dance Radio charts.
Earlier this month, Guetta also released ‘Big FU’ with Ayra Starr and Lil Durk. The release of ‘Big Fu’ also came after he came out with another collaborative track with Zara Larsson, ‘On My Love’, which is now reaching 30 million streams. Kim Petras keeps on rising to the top of the pop music world
The appearance of Kim Petras on ‘When We Were Young’ signifies another step in the German pop star’s international success. Petras began her rise to fame for over the past half decade with her top-notch vocals and innovative musical tracks. However, the 2022 smash hit that she appeared alongside Sam Smith, ‘Unholy’, became a global pop anthem and the track allowed Petras that claim her spot as a top pop superstar.
‘Unholy’ led to her receiving her first Grammy and the track also reached the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, as well as the Global 200 chart. ‘Unholy’ also provided Kim Petras and Sam Smith to become the first openly transgender solo artist and non-binary solo artist to reach the #1 spot on the Billboard charts and receive a Grammy for ‘Best Pop Duo/Group Performance’.
