Plages Électroniques de Cannes held its 2023 edition this August in the mesmerizing city of Cannes, France. All with a finetuned lineup of major headliners and handpicked acts, and we were there to cover it.
The 2023 Edition
Once again, Plages Eelectroniques was a fusion of electronic music and stunning beachfront locations that deserves its position as a major destination for music enthusiasts and partygoers. The festival already stands at a solid 39th DJMag worldwide festivals ranking.
This year, the festival offered a unique and immersive experience, blending the best of electronic music with the idyllic charm of the French Riviera.
The full Lineup
Lineup and performance-wise, handpicked renowned DJs and artists took the stage, delivering performances that span a wide range of genres, from EDM, Techno, and House to experimental and underground sounds. The festival showcases both established acts and emerging talent, creating a diverse lineup that caters to all tastes.
2023 Stages
With multiple stages set up along the coast, and many new ones making their debut this year, we were off for a ride.
In total, partygoers enjoyed 6 stages around the beach and the famous Cannes’ Palais des Festival. Of course, we had the Mainstage on the beach where you could go for a swim while listening to your favorite set.
“La Terrasse” and “Solarium” offered one of the best sunset vibes with lifetime memories material. While the secret stage and “Le Club” by DJ Mag were the best spot for the underground sound and great clubbing atmosphere all weekend long.
With all this at hand and the perfect sunny weather, people danced under the sun and stars with the shores of Cannes transforming into a pulsating hub of music and good vibes.
After midnight “Le Club” transformed into the afterparty venue for those wanting to keep the fun going. The terraces next to the room were also still open, so you could also lie down, watch the moon and enjoy Canne’s night sky.
Our Highlights
On Friday, it’s no other than Trance legend Armin van Buuren who delivered a world-class closing act on the mainstage.
Along with him, The Blessed Madona, Joachim Pastor, and Ofenbach led the way during the day to set the tone for the rest of the week.
On day two Oden & Fatzo delivered the best sunset performance with their house and disco craft, forcing organizers to close the stage for safety reasons. Later on, Anfisa Letyago replaced Mind Against for the closing of the “La Terrasse” stage.
Later at night, we were back to the mainstage with DJ Snake closing the day on a bass-filled journey with his local French fans. The DJ even played 30 extra minutes with his best classics and had the crowd singing to his anthems including ‘Let Me Love You’, ‘You Are My High’, and closing with Celine Dion‘s ‘Pour que tu m’aimes encore’, finishing day 2 with a cute singalong vibe with a perfect view.
On Sunday we had the party seriously going very early on the mainstage with Tchami playing a perfect summery afternoon set, one of our favorites of the weekend.
Gordo also took over the Club for a phenomenal extended house set in the early PMs.
Later on, Lilly Palmer and Stephan Bodzin kept the ship sailing with their electrifying sounds, and setting the ground for one the most awaited acts of the weekend, Tale of Us.
The Afterlife duo definitely brought their mystical atmosphere to the Mainstage. The 90 minutes set was one of, if not the best, of the weekend, combining the duo’s music and unique visuals. And with the blood moon filling the sky that evening, we were on for a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and a perfect closing of this 2023 edition in style.
