As 2022 comes to a close, we have a big weekend ahead of us. New Year’s Eve falls on a weekend this year, so it’s bound to be a big one. We’ve already told you the hottest events happening this weekend, but that’s only one piece of one day. What about the rest of the day and night?
We asked the legendary Lucaz, one of the head honchos of the legendary Club Space, how to spend the perfect New Year’s Eve in Miami this weekend. If you didn’t know, Lucaz is not just a purveyor of parties, but a connoisseur of all things culture in Miami. His persnickety taste in restaurants would never send you for overpriced rigatoni with vodka sauce, but he will point you in the direction of the most amazing hidden gems Miami has to offer. We asked Lucaz to plan an itinerary for the night, and it should come as little surprise that some quality time on the Space Terrace is also on the menu. In keeping with Miami tradition, your night out for New Year’s Eve will actually not conclude until sometime on January 2 (or 3rd?).
Peep the full itinerary below. Happy 2023 dearest foodie dancer you <3
Much Love, Lucaz
9AM Legion Park
No better way to begin your final day of 2022 than with a morning stroll at Legion Park for their weekly local farmers market specializing in fresh organic produce from small local farms.
Legion Park Farmers Market 6601 Biscayne Blvd, Miami, FL 33138
Saturdays 9-2PM *Free parking in main park lot
Noon – 4PM – Wine @ Sobremesa
Everything goes today, so why not stop by Sobremesa for a midday glass or two and take home some very special and rare natural wine / bubbly selections to toast across the New Year. Then go home, disco nap, throw on your extravagant party fits because you won’t be coming back anytime soon.
8PM-ish – Dinner
Off the beaten path is not exactly the right description for this amazing spot, but for any guest in our city, it would feel like it. Ditch those bland clubstaurants and make your way to NIU Kitchen for a fiery feast.
Must have’s: Ponzu charbroiled oysters, Branzino tartar, Ous, Grilled artichoke confit with Jamón Iberico, Arroz sec (paella style). Just make sure you make a reservation or it’s not happening.
10PM – After-Dinner Drinks
Head over to Marygold’s for the most exquisite and exotic cocktails to kick off the new year. You can also head upstairs to her sister-bar Higher Ground for a better view of the skyline before countdown!
Midnight-Sunrise: Club Space
The night continues, of course, at Club Space where the legendary Carl Cox will take the decks and play straight through to sunrise. Carl will be hot off a set at Factory Town the previous night, but he’s no stranger to benders! Then Jamie Jones and Michael Bibi will take us through the entire first day of 2023!
If the sunrise munchies hit, make your way to Space’s first-floor café where Space Odyssey chefs will whip you up the most delicious grilled cheese sandwich you’ve ever had. If you’re feeling adventurous ask for the L’s Special 😉 ::hint hint:: there’s caviar involved
8PM Jan 1: Factory Town
It’s Miami so NYE does not end when the clock strikes 12. Close down Space like the trooper you are and teleport into Factory Town where the rave begins 8pm and runs all the way until 6am. Have your Sunday night feast at the party! From the Wolf of Taco‘s award-winning pastor tacos to Luna Rossa’s fluffy ‘zza pies, Ted Burgers‘ infamous smash burgers, Miso Picante’s Peruvian fusion bar buns, and Semilla Nativa’s vegan/gluten-free waffle creations the possibilities for a disco feast are endless!
The town features 3 stages with acts like Solomun and Cromby in the Infinity Room. Echonomist and Seth Troxler in Espacio Proximo stage. If by now you’ve explored this bizarre and extraordinary venue, you have found your way to the last but not least Cypress End stage with romantic deep tunes and rock n roll techno by Chaim, Moscoman, and more!
*7AM Jan 2: Not For the Faint of Heart
You’re at Factory Town watching maestro Solomun dazzle you and then 6AM hits. First light shines upon the sea of ravers and you still have the energy of a thousand suns. What will you do on Monday? Well, there’s only one right answer: SOLOMUN (again) at SPACE marathon 8am-infinity! Call in sick to work because this party is rocking until who knows when.
