Ibiza does not expect any tourism until at least August due to the worldwide pandemic. Now the Spanish Minister of Labor, Yolanda Diz, explained that closures of tourism and leisure may be extended through the end of 2020. Besides, the clubbing industry, which is key for the White Isle, expects a loss of around 4000 jobs related to it.
Diaz explained that Spain’s reopening will be in 2 phases, with leisure, tourism, and culture in the 2nd phase of the reopening. She says a return to normalcy is not expected until Christmas.
The reports indicate that the summer season in Ibiza is most likely to not take place. Experts of the island estimated the possible amount of jobs that could be affected by this biological threat, and the figures are not promising at all. The numbers could climb up to 4,000 venue staff their jobs according to Diario De Ibiza
In Ibiza, there are currently eight superclubs. And in each of them work between 300 and 350 people, plus another 100 in less direct ways. I don’t know if we’ll ever get back to normal or if we’ll recuperate the same levels of tourism we’ve come to expect.

Diario de Ibiza claims that none of the main clubs will open this summer. These are terrible news as the most optimistic clubbers expected to visit the Island at least in August. Although the formal announcement did not arrive yet, it is very likely to start showing up in these clubs’ social media. Bad news for the Clubbing scene and the Economy of the Islands
The tourist activity on the Balearic Islands will be on hold until August. Sadly, the clubbing scene will be most likely postponed until next summer. Officially, the clubs are in permanent communication with the Spanish government who will be in charge to determine the step by step return to the normality of the activities.
Spain and more specifically the Balearic Islands are suffering the consequences of the virus. Ibiza, the tourism and the economy of one of the most beautiful destinies for clubbers are at stake. The outbreak of Coronavirus already took the lives of more than 22,000 people. It is time to collaborate with the local authorities and beat the virus.
