Swedish DJ and producer Alesso just signed an exclusive global recording contract with Universal Music Group‘s relatively new 10:22 PM imprint. The signing is the latest in a burgeoning partnership between UMG and mobile-first entertainment company Shots Studio, as YouTube star and actress Lele Pons, also associated with Shots, also recently signed to 10:22 PM. Alesso wasted no time announcing his first release on the label; “Remedy” is slated to release Friday, August 31 with a music video directed by Shots signee and internet sensation Rudy Mancuso. The release kicks off a big weekend for the superstar: he will debut “Remedy” on Good Morning America’s Summer Concert Series in New York’s Central Park and will close out Electric Zoo in the big apple on Sunday, September 2nd.
Executives at both companies are understandably excited about the latest addition to the label. Celine Joshua, UMG’s general manager and founder of 10:22 pm, praises Alesso as “a global superstar whose music transcends any borders or genre” who is “constantly pushing his sound and performance.” John Shahidi, co-founder and chief executive officer of Shots Studios echoes that sentiment: “He is so focused on making incredible music, pushing himself to be better every day.”
