Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) in Las Vegas is a weekend one can look forward to for many reasons: the fireworks, amazing stages, and loud music with great vibes. Unfortunately, one of the big recurring issues that always come with that weekend is traffic and it looks like this year it may be getting worse.
Local news station FOX 5 Las Vegas is reporting that this EDC weekend festival goers can look forward to expecting some heavy traffic due to a major highway closing in both directions. Prior to EDC weekend construction project, Project Neon had already been causing some headaches for locals traveling on U.S. 95 Highway. With this recently announced closure, the traffic is looking to be redirected into multiple of the side streets and that’s sure to cause some major traffic for festival goers heading to EDC.
“We could not avoid this,” Tony Illia with Nevada Department of Transportation said. “We plan our construction years in advance.”
The closure is beginning this weekend at 10:00 p.m. Friday, through Monday at 5:00 a.m., the US 95 will be closed in both directions where it connects to I-15.
That being said to all the attendees in Las Vegas this weekend for EDC, make sure to give yourself plenty of time to get around the traffic and to avoid any issues or delays getting into the festival. Organizers understand this frustration and have addressed it with plenty of information and ways to stay updated here.
