Lux Groove first hit the scene with his From The Back EP in 2013, propelling him to a career with releases on impressive labels such as Dirtybird, This Ain’t Bristol, and Perfect Driver. His upcoming release ‘Setup’ on Treasure Fingers’ Psycho Disco! label is out Friday, April 13th and enjoys remixes from Steve Darko and regular collaborators Ghostea and Mark Starr. Starr is a collaborator on four of six of Lux Groove’s most recent releases so the two producers are very familiar with each other. EDMTunes is excited to premiere the Mark Starr remix of ‘Setup’ one day before the official release.
While the Lux Groove original hits the spot for any tech house playlist, Mark Starr’s take on ‘Setup’ is the perfect weird, trippy vibe for the underground. The extended intro allows for smooth layering over the previous track, providing seamless transitions that fool the listener until the last second. The in your face bass and synth line modulations are accompanied by a barrage of precise percussive instrumentation to create a constantly moving musical journey. But for all its flair this track is impressively tight. Starr never lets the psychedelic drive stray too far from the main theme of the track, leaving ’Setup’ saturated with the texture loved by all the crazy kids who stay up all night listening to weird house music.
