Stolar – Suburbia
We were recently turned on to NYC based singer-songwriter Stolar who is on a mission as he creates infectious pop tunes with raw emotion and meaning. Launching the 18 month long Raw Emotions Project back in October 2017, his goal was to deliver new singles, videos, photos and collaborations connected to a different emotion every month.
Fast forward to 2018 and Stolar is back with a brand new banger on Lush Records titled ‘Suburbia‘. This song has all those beautiful summer vibes going on with a powerful narrative attached to it. Not only can Stolar deliver hits of his own, but his pen game for other artists is also heavy. He wrote Aloe Blacc’s “Brooklyn In The Summer” and Train and Hall and Oates’ new single “Philly Forget Me Not” with even more major label singles on the way.
Falling in love again is hard. That’s the emotional space that the song “Suburbia” came out of. I met a girl who reminded me of the feeling you get when you first fall for someone. That instant connection you know almost like a drug. Honestly we didn’t even end up getting together, but for a second, I had that feeling again and it brought me out of a darker place. I was in the studio a few days after we met and “Suburbia” came out all at once. It’s really a song about the idea that no matter how different a person is from the last, there is a nostalgic element to meeting someone new. For me it reminded me of a girl I couldn’t stop thinking about when I was 13 after my first show in New Jersey. I’m sure when I meet someone else someday it will remind me of someone I’ve met before. – Stolar
