Anyone who has attended a Dirtybird Records events over the past few months can tell you that the previously unreleased track from Walker & Royce, ‘Take Me To Your Leader’ featuring Dances With White Girls has been played in numerous sets across the Dirtybird label – and that it’s one of the funkiest tracks we’ve heard in a long time.
Well, Dirtybird fans, we have great news: today, the duo has released the track, as well as announced their debut album Self Help. The album is slated to be released on October 20th of this year and will demonstrate the funky quirks and quips of such a funky duo.
‘Take Me To Your Leader’ kicks off with an intro filled with funky organ chords and later works n a catchy vocal riff from Dances With White Girls to create a production that truly feels out-of-this-world. It’s a guaranteed party starter and we wouldn’t be surprised if it gets stuck in your head here and there as well.
The pair, which consists of Gavin Walker and Samuel Royce, has a track record of making killer tunes with Dirtybird favorites and beyond – they’ve worked with Claude VonStroke, Green Velvet and Billy Kenny, to name a few. If this track is any hint as to how groovy the rest of their album will be, we’re antsy to get our hands on it.
