In its first year, Pismocean is making waves in the boutique festival space by bringing an absolutely unreal lineup to play in the sand this weekend, November 4-6, at Pismo State Beach in Central California. With three days of house, techno, live bands and more, there are so many acts spread across two stages that will be ideal for a sunny afternoon, evening or sunrise on the beach.
With a beautiful list of names that will grace the beach’s presence this weekend, we had to pick a few of our favorites we’re looking forward to seeing.
Lee Burridge
Lee Burridge, a DJ hailing from the UK, has been mixing since 1984. Since then, he has grown to be one of the most well-known artists in the house and techno music scene. His first big break came in 1987, when he was turned on acid house music; from there, the rest is history. His label, All Day I Dream, was created in partnership with Matthew Dekay in 2011 and is known as for its prolific explorations in house and techno music. Burridge’s sunrise sets are one of the most captivating few hours of sound you’ll experience, so be sure to be ready to watch the sun come up with him on Sunday morning.
Lee Reynolds
Also originally hailing from England, Lee Reynolds is one of the founding fathers of tech house label Desert Hearts and a prolific DJ that keeps listeners grooving for hours. He is known for bringing the weird and the wonderful to the dancefloor and is truly one of the most magical live performers we’ve seen yet, mixing in an eclectic balance of house, techno, acid and breaks to his tunes. He plays Friday night from midnight to 2am.
The Naven Twins
The Naven Twins are a Los Angeles-based duo, Kym and Alexis McKay, that not only make music, but also are major girl bosses and entrepreneurs. New to the scene (their Soundcloud only dates to about a year ago), these two have dived into tech house with the perfect feminine touch.
DAVÍ
David “DAVI” Khanjian is another Los Angeles-based artist that has been hailed as “LA’s best kept secret.” As a DJ and producer, he began making music at the young age of 17 and has made a name for himself in the house and techno music worlds ever since. He became a resident DJ for Insomniac Events in Los Angeles in 2010 and can be found on labels including Rebellion,
Nico Stojan
Nico Stojan, an artist originally from Berlin, has his roots in hip hop music. Over time, however, the Berlin techno scene and a residency at bar25 shifted his music taste and track selection to house music, a genre in which he thrives today. His music today inserts influences and melodies of jazz and soul music as a result, creating an intriguingly beautiful sound appealing to house music loves looking for something to enjoy.
