What started as a small transformational gathering in California in the mid 80’s, has rapidly evolved into a musical and artistic phenomenon that only grows stronger as the years pass. Burning Man, which is now held in the the heart of Nevada’s Black Rock Desert, is thrown annually and is fueled by collective self expression, and participation. Attendees are encouraged to get involved in the festivities any way possible through contributing art, a talent, or an idea, and the real magic of the festival is created through the summation of all of the attendees, their contributions, paired with the environment. This festival and what it represents has become so well known that it has prompted several smaller regional “Burns,” and has in turn begun to inspire and influence festival culture as a whole.
As Burning Man continues to expand and grow, festival organizers, labeled as the “Burning Man Project,” are looking to further build their artistic empire, according to organizers,
“Fly Ranch is a much smaller space [than Black Rock City], but with potential year-round access, it offers the gift of time. Eventually we’ll be able to create more opportunities spread out throughout the year.”
This 3,800 acre parcel of land opens an entire world of opportunities for new experiences. There is no festival that is as wholesome and unique as Burning Man, and whatever The Burning Man project dreams up for this new space, is sure to be unique and incredible in its own respect. It will be truly exciting to see what is in store for Fly Ranch.
