DJs play marathon sets all the time, but it’s rare to see one go for 24 hours. This past weekend, DJ EZ accomplished this feat and raised over $80,000 (£58,000) for cancer research in the process. The entire event was live streamed and by the end of it, over 6,300 people had donated.
The garage pioneer announced this lengthy set a few weeks ago and when asked about his motivation behind the event, he responded by stating:
“I HAVE REACHED A POINT IN MY CAREER WHERE I WOULD LIKE TO GIVE SOMETHING BACK TO THOSE LESS FORTUNATE THAN MYSELF. CANCER AFFECTS COUNTLESS PEOPLE AROUND THE WORLD WHICH IS WHY I HAVE CHOSEN TO RAISE AS MUCH MONEY AS POSSIBLE FOR CANCER RESEARCH UK.”
This is just one of the many examples of the magic that can happen when the dance music community comes together to support a great cause. Even though the marathon set is over and DJ EZ is probably getting some well-deserved rest, you can still donate to Cancer Research UK right here. Check out a video from the final few minutes below!
