Skrillex‘s releases have been frequent and diverse lately, ranging from heavy and electrifying remixes to collaborations with some of music’s biggest stars. He recently dropped his heavily anticipated remix of GTA’s “Red Lips,” an absolutely explosive banger with an eerie apocalyptic-esque music video to go along with it. He also released a heavy remix of Torro Torro’s “Make a Move” for Red Bull’s 20for16 series, which also displays some of the grungy and hard-hitting production that made him so beloved. While fans, and recently deadmau5, have perhaps fairly criticized Skrillex’s involvement in more mainstream projects such as Justin Bieber’s album, Skrillex has thankfully maintained some of his production roots while still allowing himself to experiment with different styles.
His newest project sees him collaborating with one of hip-hop’s most talented rising stars. Chance the Rapper has dropped some exceptional electronic collaborations with Lido, Snakehips and even Skrillex himself, and his voice is lent perfectly to Skrillex’s deep bass lines and surprisingly beautifully mellow production. While he recently teamed up with another high profile rapper in the Game on “El Chapo,” this silky smooth take on Hundred Waters‘ “Show Me Love” goes in a far different direction, depicting a chilled out side of Skrillex his fans rarely get to see.
