SoundCloud has introduced a streamlined monetization system for Next Pro users, allowing them to enable revenue generation during the upload process. This new feature removes previous complexities, letting eligible artists opt into monetization with a single click. Currently, the updated system is limited to those who have already monetized a track and does not support multi-track uploads. Alongside this update, SoundCloud added new features to aid artist distribution and development, including direct track distribution to over 60 platforms like Spotify, and a beta merchandise program that allows select artists to sell merch without upfront costs.
SoundCloud has also recently launched artist-centric initiatives like the ‘Ascending’ program for artist development, ‘First on SoundCloud’ for creator discovery, and Buzzing Playlists to help new artists gain exposure. Along with the new bells and whistles, a redesigned interface with drag-and-drop uploads and automated follower notifications now improves ease of use and fan engagement.
