Nintendo Launches Streaming App To Compete With Spotify

Nintendo has stepped up their game. The iconic brand, owner of franchises such as the Mario Bros, Kirby, Pokémon, and others, has unveiled its latest surprise: a dedicated music streaming app. Nintendo Music, available on iOS and Android, offers a curated selection of classic gaming tunes from franchises like Splatoon, Animal Crossing, and The Legend of Zelda.

The app, exclusive to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers, allows users to stream or download tracks for offline listening. It features curated playlists themed around games, moods, and characters, as well as a unique “spoiler” feature that filters out tracks from your unfinished games. For those seeking relaxation, the app also offers extended versions of select tracks, which can last up to an hour.

Nintendo’s recent string of unexpected announcements, including the launch of an alarm clock and the development of a mysterious MMO, has kept fans on their toes. While the gaming giant continues to keep its cards close to its chest regarding the next-gen Nintendo console, it’s clear that they are exploring new avenues to engage with their audience.
