Sama Abdulhadi Calls Out Kamala Harris For Unauthorized Use of Her Image in Campaign Aid

In an election year, it’s somewhat common to see musical artists calling out political candidates for using their music in political ads or political rallies. More often than not, those instances involve music other than electronic dance music and usually involving calling out a Republican candidate. This time, techno DJ Sama Abdulhadi is calling out the Kamala Harris Campaign for unauthorized use of her name, image, and likeness in a campaign ad.

Apparently, the Harris Campaign posted an ad called “Like Detroit” which included footage of Sama performing at Detroit’s Movement Festival in an attack on her opponent, Donald Trump. The DJ took to Instagram and posted a statement:

“The use of this footage was unauthorized and done without my consent. The use of this footage implies that I endorse Vice President Harris’ presidential candidacy, which is totally and utterly false. It is deeply offensive to my social, moral, and political beliefs and is misleading political advertising by VP Harris’ Presidential Campaign. For the avoidance of doubt, I do not endorse, nor have I ever endorsed, Vice President Harris, and I am taking the necessary legal steps to ensure that this video is promptly retracted, to dispel any notion of an association between myself and VP Harris’ campaign for the us Presidency.”
