Avicii’s Belongings Auction Raises $750,000 For Charity

An auction of items belonging to the late DJ Avicii has raised a significant sum for charity — in fact, the amount accrues to close to three-quarters of a million dollars ($750,000). The sale, held in Stockholm on Tuesday, happened at Auktionsverk in front of a crowded audience, and featured over 260 personal items, including clothing, instruments, and memorabilia.

Bids poured in from around the world, with at least bidders from 40 countries. A 2015 Fender Telecaster was among the highest-grossing items, selling for SEK 240,000, or approximately $23,000. Other items that attracted high bids included a Martin acoustic guitar, headphones, a Miami Marlins cap, and a contact sheet of portraits by Mark Seliger.

All proceeds from the auction will go to the Tim Bergling Foundation, established in memory of Avicii. The foundation aims to raise awareness about mental health and suicide prevention among young people.

Cecilia Gave, CEO of Stockholms Auktionsverk, expressed her satisfaction with the auction’s success and the Foundation’s ability to connect with a younger audience. Many fans shared their excitement about purchasing items related to Avicii, with one fan planning to display the leather jacket he bought in his music studio.

We’re happy to see Avicii’s legacy over time has always gravitated, one way or another, to bringing the community together. We’re glad to call Tim one of the most influential acts EDM has ever had.
