Diskull Releases Firey Debut Album, I’m The Beat

Listen to a banging body of work which just came out today.

If you’re a fan of high-intensity four-on-the-floors, come this way. After patiently crafting his sound for eight years, Diskull has finally released his debut album, I’m The Beat. This highly anticipated piece showcases a rich blend of Deep House, Bass House, UK Garage, and a plethora of genres translated to a fine degree of Tech House, which all pay homage to Diskull’s musical influences.

The release of the album is not only a huge milestone for Diskull himself, but also for his record label, Groovy Bone. The goal of his imprint is to elevate the House music scene in his city, Charlotte, NC, providing a platform for local talent and fostering a community that celebrates creativity, diversity and inclusion. He aims to turn Charlotte into a hub for groundbreaking Electronic music, where artists can thrive and the local scene can experience cutting-edge sounds of all genres.

I’m The Beat

Eight entire years in the making, Diskull’s most comprehensive release has just come out today. Across eight high-octane tracks, I’m The Beat offers a seamless fusion of pulsating rhythms, immersive basslines, and innovative House elements, all meticulously woven together in Tech House fabric, yet shaped in the different genres he dominates.

The album features collaborations with talented artists such as Bianca Gardner, Proppa, Niko The Kid, Megan Hamilton, NO STATIC, and Thatz Hot, adding further depth and variety to the tracks, while also sending a message about crafting timeless gems and unforgettable music as a well-entwined community.

“I’m The Beat represents the culmination of eight years of passion and persistence“, Diskull says. “This album is my love letter to the genres that have shaped me, and I’m excited to share this next chapter with everyone. My journey has always been about pushing the envelope of electronic music, creating tracks and memories that resonate not only on the dancefloor but also in the listener’s mind long after the beat drops“.

Writer Picks

Even though all tracks are pointy and banging — as they should be —, there’s something in ‘All For Myself‘ which stuck with me from the first listen. I’ll call it the “House-groovy-resemblance-ness” it has, for lack of better words. Funnily enough, I think that Frankenstein word I just made up gets my point across.

The track scratches my craving for jazzy chords and blending of genres in just the right spot. You can hear early Tchami influences during the break, even earlier House stab chords, warm, rounded synths, and even yesteryear vocal lines, but it’s all, once again, adapted to the contemporary sounds of Tech House. It’s also a very minimalistic track, not a super over-the-top arrangement. It lets every element shine, and I dig it quite a bunch for it.

“I’m The Beat represents the culmination of eight years of passion and persistence. This album is my love letter to the genres that have shaped me.”
