Dance music titans Subtronics and Seven Lions team up for their highly-anticipated debut collab ‘I’ll Wait For You’ feat. Skylar Grey. ‘I’ll Wait For You’
Dubbed by fans as “Seventronics,” the long awaited collaboration between Seven Lions and Subtronics was over a year in the making starting with Seven Lions repping an instrumental version of ‘I’ll Wait For You’ in his sets during his Journey 3 headline album tour in the spring of 2023.
As the music began to resonate with fans and evolve, he was delivered a pitch track from HAYLA and Poppy Baskcomb, two of the most prominent female voices and lyricists in dance music right now. Their work fit the tone of the song perfectly and as Subtronics came in to add his flavor, Skylar Grey delivered the vocal for the embracing track heard today.
Seven Lions
Washington-based producer Seven Lions has never had an issue pushing the boundaries of electronic music to fulfill his creative vision. Catching a break after winning a Beatport remix contest in 2012 with his dubstep-focused version of Above & Beyond’s “You Got To Go”, Seven Lions, born Jeff Montalvo, garnered support from the likes of Anjunabeats, Casablanca, OWSLA, Viper Recordings, Republic Records, and Monstercat over the past ten years. After releasing on a plethora of labels, Seven Lions created Ophelia Records in 2018 which has since become a leading independent label in the melodic bass subgenre.
Since its emergence only four years ago, the label has already made an imprint in the dance music scene having been voted Dancing Astronaut’s Label Of The Year in 2021, releasing multiple #1 iTunes Dance albums and hosting festival stage takeovers and showcases around the country. His productions have seen stages at world-renowned festivals including Ultra Music Festival, Electric Daisy Carnival, Electric Zoo, and HARD.
Skylar Grey
Skylar Grey is an American singer-songwriter and record producer known for her hauntingly emotive voice and introspective songwriting. In 2006, she released her debut album, Like Blood Like Honey, which showcased her distinctive voice and lyrical depth. The singer’s breakthrough came when she began working with rapper and producer Eminem. Grey’s distinctive voice and songwriting skills contributed to Eminem’s hit single ‘Love the Way You Lie’, which she co-wrote with Alex da Kid. The song was a massive success, reaching the top of charts worldwide and bringing Skylar Grey into the mainstream spotlight.
Following this success, Grey collaborated with a range of artists, including Dr. Dre and Lupe Fiasco. Her unique style, which blends elements of pop, rock, and electronic music, made her a sought-after collaborator. Her contributions to the music industry earned her critical acclaim and a growing fan base. Most recently, Grey landed credit for ‘Temporary’, on Eminem’s #1 album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce).
Subtronics
A love for SUBwoofers and elecTRONICS has brought us Subtronics. Hailing from Philadelphia, PA, Subtronics’ musical journey began with a fervor for his drum set and an appreciation for Radiohead. Discovering dubstep in high school ignited his passion for music production which has since propelled his artistic trajectory. Over the past decade, Subtronics has honed his skills to create a fusion of cutting-edge sound design that pushes the boundaries of electronic music. Known for his electrifying live performances and advanced mixing abilities, he has cultivated an ever-growing fanbase. Headlining renowned festivals such as Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Ultra Music Festival, Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas, and more. Subtronics has left an indelible mark on the scene. Having sold out every headline tour since 2018, Subtronics inked a groundbreaking national tour deal with Live Nation in 2023. Notably, he has curated festival-level events at iconic venues like Red Rocks and The Kia Forum. Cool enough, he also has his two-day festival, Cyclops Cove, in Boca Raton, Florida.
On the music side, Subtronics launched his label Cyclops Recordings in 2020, which is home to his most significant releases. His debut album FRACTALS was released in January of 2022 and soared to #4 on the Billboard Dance/Electronic chart. Collaborating with prominent artists such as Rezz, Zeds Dead, Marshmello, and GRiZ, Subtronics continues to shape the sonic landscape. His sophomore album TESSERACT landed #3 for North American Debut Albums on Spotify. Moreover, it also landed #1 Album on Apple Dance Charts and #5 on Billboard Dance Album Chart.
