The artist just unveiled the second single off his upcoming Wakanda EP.
Ukrainian-born, Berlin-based artist RAJA is telling the story of a lifetime this year. Inspired by a profound personal odyssey across Africa, RAJA seeks to bridge cultures by sharing the lives and rhythms of the people he encountered, and he continues this exploration of cross-cultural exchange through music with the release of his new single, ‘Babulana‘.
The artist’s time in Africa was a transformative one. Immersed in diverse cultures, RAJA was captivated by their inherent wisdom, purity, and communal spirit. These encounters ignited his musical creativity. He says throughout his travels, the one consistent thing he can rely on to connect with the people he meets is music. He states music transcends spoken language and has an incredible power to bring us together, to remind us of our shared humanity.
RAJA’s artistic vision has as clear of a sonic voice as it does intention. By fusing Melodic House and Techno with Folk melodies, he’s developed a sound that can be traced back directly to him. It’s become recognisable, and lately, that’s thanks to the viral success of his previous single ‘Animal‘, featuring a video of him playing the song live in Africa, surrounded by wildlife.

‘Babulana’
Lifted from his forthcoming EP, Wakanda, ‘Babulana‘ tells the story of a day in the life of one of the Maasai tribespeople he spent time with whilst in Tanzania. Through this tale, RAJA hopes to share the feelings of hope, joy, and ambition that can be found inside us all. The EP is a broader collection of work celebrating the diversity of global societies.
By sharing the tales and melodies of the Maasai people, RAJA hopes to increase awareness of the vulnerability of ancient cultures and the critical importance of safeguarding their traditions for future generations. But he translates those words — and worlds — in a groovy, irresistible way of crafting Dance music. This one’s ought to have you dancing around, believe us.
