You Can Now Hum or Sing Into YouTube Music To Search For A Song

Finally, a feature we have all wanted for years has been added to YouTube Music. They have added a new feature that will allow you to hum or sing a song to search for it.

Last year, it was first teased and made available via Google in 2020. Now fully released, users can utilize the feature by tapping the magnifying glass icon within the app. They can hum a tune they have in mind, and the app will generate results based on the likelihood of a match. Users can also sing the song if they know the lyrics, or play it on an instrument. This feature expands on Google’s MusicLM technology, previously used for generating music from text prompts or hums.

YouTube Music is also exploring additional AI and music recognition tools. For instance, a new feature for Premium subscribers in the US allows them to create custom radio stations by describing the type of music they want to hear.

Currently available on iOS and Android, the hum, sing, or play feature will soon roll out to all users, according to YouTube.

Earlier this month, reports surfaced that YouTube is negotiating with major labels for an AI music licensing agreement, potentially involving one-time payments for access to their music.

Last year, YouTube introduced an experimental AI feature named Dream Track. Powered by the Lyria model, this platform enables select users to create music pieces using AI-generated voice clones of well-known artists.
