One of our favorite side projects inside the EDM scene, Jack Back‘s officially, well, back. The side project created by David Guetta returned to none other than Defected Records for the release of a fantastic rework of one of Guetta’s very own tracks. Jack Back enters the competition for Song of the Summer with a terrific new version of ‘Freedom’, a track released as part of the album titled ‘7’.
The third release under one of David Guetta’s projects in 2024 is most definitely no joke. A soulful, groove-filled house-rooted track with a simple yet hypnotic groove. The base of the song is complemented by a set of vocals written and performed by one of house music’s most legendary voices, Cece Rogers. Certainly, the recipe for success when in search of the perfect club summer track. When you think David Guetta, you might see yourself at a beach club or some pool party dancing to his music. Now, anytime you’re at a club during the summer, you better be sure you’ll hear some Jack Back.
Jack Back Perfectly Demonstrates How To Do A Tasteful Rework
Titled ‘Freedom 2024’, this is one tasteful rework. It is hard to run into reworks and remixes that do not sound like a quick copy with minor alterations made just to be able to release something that might cling to the original’s release popularity wave. Or, even worse, reworks of classics that make absolutely no sense and aim to take advantage of the nostalgia factor only.
Guetta manages to maintain the essence of the original track while giving it a fresh twist. Always focused on the sounds that take over house music clubs, Jack Back misses rarely. A project that has demonstrated that its owner could easily dominate any genre he chooses too. A lot of people have seemed to forget where David Guetta came from. He hasn’t. And he’s more than ready to dish out some dance music history lessons.
