Culture Shock Revives His Classic Sound With ‘The Time Is Now’

If you’ve been waiting for a new DNB dancefloor heater, the wait is over and the time is now. Culture Shock’s latest, aptly titled ‘The Time Is Now,’ releases today after IDing all over the place since Spring. The enigmatic UK producer delivers another powerhouse Drum and Bass track, echoing the classic style that propelled him into the genre’s top ranks.

‘The Time Is Now’ features the intricate, fast-paced patterns and robust, industrial drumlines that have become synonymous with Culture Shock’s sound. Fans have praised the track as a return to more traditional roots, distinct from his recent vocal experiments like ‘Get To Me,’ ‘Breathe,’ ‘Out My Head,’ and a banger of a flip for Artemas’ ‘i like the way you kiss me.’

Culture Shock’s fourth single of the year, ‘The Time Is Now’ had a viral moment last week after a glimpse of his set at Rattleship was posted on social media. If you thought EDM venues couldn’t get any wilder, think again—Brownies and Lemonade took things to the next level with a mind-blowing production on a USS aircraft carrier.

Culture Shock’s evolution as an artist has been a journey of balancing innovation with consistency. ‘The Time Is Now’ showcases not only his ability to stay true to his London origins but also to refine his production techniques, with a tight, polished sound that continues to impress.

To get a sense of Culture Shock’s live sets, you can’t do much better than to check out his 30-minute set from May for Radio 1’s Drum and Bass Show. Or catch him on tour before he goes back-to-back x4 with supergroup WORSHIP at EDC Orlando in November.
