The best of Anjunadeep joins the best of Anjunabeats for a stellar debut collaboration.
New music everyone! We had been waiting for this one for a long while. Ever since legendary trio Above & Beyond had their part in the deeper division of their Anjuna tree of brands in the form of the Anjunadeep Edition 500 mix, AND announced their appearance this weekend at Finsbury Park, also for Anjunadeep, we knew something was up.
What we didn’t know, was that it came alongside one of the hottest producers out there in Organic House at the moment, a very versatile, clever and monstrously talented man who goes by the name of PROFF.
Above & Beyond
Above & Beyond, or Jono Grant, Tony McGuinness, and Paavo Siljamäki, as they are better known to their legions of fans around the world, have been at the forefront of Dance music for over two decades. Since their appearance, they’ve opened up a path for producers all over the world, founding the influential Anjunabeats and Anjunadeep labels, and hosting the wildly popular Group Therapy radio show.
Their music has resonated on a massive scale, earning GRAMMY nominations and topping charts, while their live performances have captivated audiences in iconic venues worldwide. Far from being only DJs, their expertise has led them to unveil groundbreaking variants of their sound, such as the Acoustic projects, which take their best club hits and transform them into full-orchestra pieces.
PROFF
And here’s where Vlad comes into the picture. PROFF saw his first Anjunadeep release back in 2008 — ‘My Personal Summer / Aguilas’ —and has been releasing on Monstercat, Melody Of The Soul, and SkyTop recently. His sets at the annual Anjunadeep Explorations festival in Albania have become fan favourites. Really versatile and a true powerhouse that spews out anthem after anthem, he can now be seen — and heard — leading the more percussive-heavy sound of the Organic House corner of Dance music.
He recently rejoined Anjunadeep under this new sound, and, as a producer who’s been friends with the Trance trio for basically forever and is also hungry to experiment with new techniques and processes, it only felt right for the four of them to collide at this time, in which both could try something slightly outside their usual endeavours.
‘Palermo / Fractals’
And so they’ve come to unveil two delicious singles on Anjunadeep. ‘Palermo / Fractals‘ is the double-A-sider that sees Above & Beyond finally debut on their deeper label as a band, after Tony rocked the Organic House movement during Lockdown times with his Deep Sets, Paavo launched a slower album of his own as P.O.S, and Jono joined forces with longtime friend Darren Tate to create JODA, a Synthwave-oriented name.
While ‘Palermo‘, the title track, is a warm and summery song that reminds the trio — and us — of the sunny days and warm and flashy nights over in the Palermo neighbourhood of Buenos Aires, Argentina, ‘Fractals‘ is a daring piece of tribal-esque Organic House which plays with out-of-sync, Euclidean rhythms and arpeggios, and an irresistible groove, courtesy of PROFF.
