New York’s rising electronic duo, Truth x Lies, are back with a firecracker of a track – ‘FTP’ (For The People). Released today, the single marks another step in their journey to bring joy to the dancefloor.
The story behind ‘FTP’ itself is a testament to the power of chance encounters. Ian Bertles and Ryan Howard, the creative force behind Truth x Lies, found themselves at Chicago’s O’Hare airport. There, they connected with Kyle Watson, the South African DJ and label boss of the respected Context Records. This unexpected meeting blossomed into shared gigs, and eventually, Watson extended an invitation for Truth x Lies to join his innovative label.
Crafted during a night filled with deep discussions about their shared aspirations to influence the dance music community, ‘FTP’ emerged as a powerful mantra for their collaboration. This track, driven by Ian’s compelling vocals, is a declaration of a community-focused approach to music, aiming to set dance floors ablaze and empower listeners to connect through rhythm.
“We met Kyle Watson for the first time at O’Hare airport on the way to play a show together in Austin. After playing again a few months later in New York, he asked us for some music for his new label No Context. We’re huge fans of Kyle and what he does, so we got to working on some music. One night in the studio we talked about how we love to give back to people and the line for the people, by the people’ just stuck. Ian recorded the vocals and the rest is history. A huge shout out to Kyle for believing in this record!” – Truth X Lies
