New York’s biggest festival returns this weekend with some of the most exciting musical acts across all genres. Returning back to Flushing Meadows Corona Park, Governors Ball has been one of the most exciting weekends every year in the Big Apple with so many talents artists performing. We’re here to break down 5 acts to look out for this weekend on this year’s star studded lineup.
The highlight of Day 1 is undoubtedly Post Malone. The ‘Congratulations’ singer is currently one of the biggest popstars in the world and has performed so many of the world’s biggest stages even performing at the Super Bowl earlier this year. He recently released his collaboration with Taylor Swift called ‘Fortnight’ on her latest album. He is set to take the stage this Friday at 8:30PM on the GOVBALLNYC mainstage to close out Day 1. You can expect him to perform a wide variety of songs throughout his hit-filled discography.
K-Pop has been integrated more within the American music festival scene as of recent. Last year, we saw the introduction of K-Pop to Gov Ball with aespa performing. This year, we have the talented boy group of P1HARMONY performing Day 2 of the festival on the IHG stage at 3:45. Whether you are a fan of the genre or not, there is no question that their performances are top tier with the combination of both choreography and their ability to sing. P1HARMONY has put out many hit tracks including their latest single called ‘Killin’ It’ and their collaboration with Pink Sweat$ called ‘Gotta Get Back’. One of the biggest acts in the world right now is Mexico’s Peso Pluma. His incorporation of traditional Mexican instruments has brought his genre into the mainstream. This weekend, Peso Pluma brings his talents to Gov Ball in what will surely be an incredible performance and a celebration of Mexican heritage. He is set to perform on Sunday at the gopuff stage at 7:30 to close out the stage for the weekend. There is no doubt that this is one of the most anticipated acts of the weekend.
Another impressive act performing at Governors Ball this year is Cannons. They have countless hit tracks including the iconic ‘Fire for You’. The band plays a wide variety of instruments making their performance this weekend one of a kind. Their chill vibes will have you grooving through their whole set and is certainly an artist worth checking out at this year’s festival. Cannons will be performing at the IHG stage on Sunday at 5PM so make sure to mark your schedules.
Last but not least, one of the highlights of this year’s Gov Ball festival is Sabrina Carpenter. Over the past few years, Carpenter has soared into superstardom. With countless hit singles including ‘Espresso’, ‘Father’, and ‘Nonsense’, there is no doubt she is one of the most anticipated acts of this year’s festival. She’ll be performing early on Saturday at 4:50PM on the GOVBALLNYC mainstage. Make sure to arrive early as this stage will definitely pack out with so many of her fans in attendance.
