This past weekend, the progressive house king Audien took his euphoric sounds to play at Stereo Live Houston December 29th during NYE weekend.
This was the first time that I attended a show at Stereo Live Houston and could see why this was so highly regarded by music lovers within the area. It is a large venue that features a large LED screen perfect to capture all the visuals that DJ’s bring to their shows. There is also a solid sound system which comes with strobes, colored lights, lasers, and co2 cannons to add to the experience.
As a long time fan of Audien, his performances are never misses for me and this night was another testament to why he’s so good at what he does. From the moment Audien took the stage, the atmosphere became charged with energy. The setlist was a masterful blend of his own chart-topping hits, remixes, and carefully selected tracks that resonated with the crowd. The seamless transitions between songs showcased Audien’s skillful mixing and ability to read through the energy of the room. From starting the set off in a high note with ‘Pompei (Audien Remix)’ and ‘Circles’ the positivity and upbeat nature of his style was being emitted throughout the room. His progressive house never dies slogan is truly timeless as you can tell both old school and new school edm fans both still enjoy the genre very much. Other classic oldies that tug at at the heartstrings included ‘Rooms’ and ‘Hindsight’. The progressive house maestro also mixed in recent festival/club hits that got everyone in the crowd buzzing such as ‘Turn On The Lights’ Again’ and ‘Rhyme Dust’. And my personal favorite highlight of the night was when he played ‘One Last Dance’ as it was the first time I got to listen to the recent hit in a live setting.
