2023 Recap
It’s definitely been a busy year for Dirtybird Records. Let’s take a quick trip down memory lane. The biggest news of the year for this family was Claude VonStroke taking a hiatus from his House moniker. Starting a new chapter in his musical journey with his birth name project. Barclay Crenshaw will kick start a pivotal transition in 2024 headlining a tour ahead of the release of his much-anticipated album Open Channel. Fans also sadly saw the end of an era of the flagship events of Camp Out and Camp INN. We are almost at the end of this magical year, but you can still catch our beloved Claude VonStroke in the last leg of his tour. He is set to play on December 22 in Brooklyn, and December 23 in Chicago. Then closing out with a bang for New Year’s Eve at the Proper event in San Diego.
2023 Highlights
365 days have flown by in the blink of an eye but Dirtybird had numerous highlights. The prestigious label churned out 117 releases and 28 ‘Birdfeed’ exclusives. That deserves a huge round of applause. Not just this they also had 35 new artists debut on this label with the likes of famous producers like Steve Lawler, Davide Squillace and more this year. They have had a busy year on Spotify with the most official playlist adds in their history on this platform. These included Japan, Germany, the UK, Brazil, Italy, Israel, France, Canada, New Zealand, Spain, Denmark, Russia and Poland. The artists on Dirtybird come from all nooks and corners of the earth. They featured people from 13 different countries releasing on their label this year. For the first time ever they saw a female artist none other than VNSSA come right on the top artist banner with Dirtybird releases.
The label had a huge stage takeover at Ultra Miami this year at the RESISTANCE Cove. The label should be proud of giving back to their fans, as they hosted five free events this year. If you missed them they were ADE Showcase, SXSW Showcase, 415 Night in San Francisco, a pop-up with Walker & Royce and lastly a Dirtybird holiday party at the Chase Center in San Francisco. If you attended any of the big festivals like Arc, Movement or Ultra Miami you would have come across merch for the label.
“Dirtybird is coming off two of its strongest streaming quarters with major releases by female producer and internationally touring DJ VNSSA (‘One Pill’) and the dynamic Dirtybird duo Walker & Royce (‘No Big Deal – Part 1’).”
