Art Miami, in its 33rd edition as the leading international contemporary and modern art fair, alongside the 11th edition of sister fair CONTEXT Art Miami, took place December 5th through 10th. The Fairs reported high-value sales and attendees included prestigious art collectors, connoisseurs, advisors, and museum professionals.
The Fairs kicked off with a remarkably successful VIP Preview opening on Tuesday, December 5, and for the 12th consecutive year, Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) was the exclusive VIP Preview benefactor, with Art Miami donating over $350,000 to support the museum’s collection and mission. VIP attendees included PAMM Director Franklin Sirmans, Goldman Global Arts and Wynwood Walls Curator Jessica Goldman Srebnick, Steve Wynn, Ted Fields, Janet Goldman, Joyce Varvatos, Kim Heirston, Stephanie Sayfie Aargaard, Mr. Chow, Stephen Wilkes, actor and producer Pierce Brosnan, his wife Keely Shaye Brosnan, Will Smith, record producer Kevin Rudolf, artists Ron English, RISK, Gino Miles, David Yarrow along with American Businessmen and Shark Tank investors Daymond John, and Kevin O’Leary (aka Mr. Wonderful), as well as board of directors and donors from major national and international cultural institutions.
Over 240 exhibitors from world-renowned galleries across 31 countries showcased art from more than 900 artists. Attendees viewed and acquired works by a span of diverse creators including women, LATAM, and AAPI artists, as well as works addressing timely topics like human rights and war, with a special homage to the late Botero.
Strong sales in the five-, six-, and seven-figure range were consistently reported throughout the week with noteworthy transactions including works by Fernando Botero, Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol, Yayoi Kusama, Angeles Agrela, Tom Wesselmann, Ernie Barnes, Johnny Depp, Alex Katz, Jeff Koons, Willem de Kooning, Duncan McCormick, David Yarrow, Pablo Atchugarry, Francis Hines, Federico Uribe, and Paul Nicklen.
