There is no better Martin Garrix show than RAI during Amsterdam Dance Event. The Dutch producer returned home for his first RAI show since 2019. Titled “IDEM”, Martin’s team puts together the finest production possible for 3 non-stop hours. I have never seen so many lasers in one venue and all so perfectly synchronized to the music. I have been waiting to attend this show since 2018 when it first debuted. It went above and beyond all expectations I had for the show.
Martin Garrix presents IDEM at RAI
Joining Martin on stage were Julian Jordan, Dubvision, NUZB, Blinders, Citadelle, Eleganto, and Merow. Each of them brought their signature sound to the night keeping the vibes high. The STMPD collection of artists represented the label wonderfully. The show occurred over 2 days with Friday being 18+ and Saturday being all ages. I think it is cool that Martin allows all of his fans to be able to see him live rather than wait till they are of age.
The vibe inside of RAI was electric. They turn a convention center into a full-out warehouse-like rave. The show had everything from lasers to pyro to moving lights that would descend from the ceiling above your head. Martin seemed to have played his whole catalog making sure each of his fans was satisfied. He played some of my favorites, including ‘High On Life,’ ‘The Only Way Is Up,’ and ‘Hurricane.’
His ‘Pizza’ mashup with Florence + The Machine’s ‘You Got The Love’ gave me goosebumps. I don’t think there is a more perfect pair than those 2 songs. My favorite visual moment of the night was when ‘Proxy’ dropped. The track does not get enough love and his green lasers were spot on for it.
I was left in awe at the end of the night. I really can’t get over the visual sensation that was IDEM. The large LED screen made Martin larger than life and his accompanying lasers beamed happiness into the crowd. He ended the night on the beautiful ‘Starlight’ and everyone held those they love closely.
Hopefully, Martin will continue to have this show every October in Amsterdam. If you are a fan of his you have to make it. If you are simply a fan of Dance music, you also have to make it. Five years later, I have another Martin Garrix experience checked off the bucket list.
