On Oct. 7, 2023, Israel and Hamas went to war after the latter launched a surprise offensive on the former. From the Gaza Strip where they have been in power in since 2006, Hamas launched about 3,000 missiles onto Israel and later, followed up with an additional 2,500 armed personnel entering Israel. Israel and Hamas had been fighting on-and-off in Gaza since 2006 but the latter’s offensive was so large that it made Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to officially declare war on Hamas. Both sides of the current Israel-Hamas war have committed horrible crimes toward one another since the war started, with one of those crimes being the killing of 270+ festival attendees at the Supernova Sukkot Gathering trance music festival. This festival is the Israeli edition of Brazilian trance festival Universo Parallelo and it celebrates the Jewish holiday of Sukkot.

Documentary director Yariv Mozer speaks about the events at the festival
“I have seen things in my life. I have lived through wars; I have fought in wars and I have even filmed during a war. But nothing prepared me for the harsh images I have seen in the remains of the massacre that took place at the Nova music festival. I see it as my duty as a documentary filmmaker to bring to the world the testimonies and horrific stories from the survivors of this slaughter. Young women and men whose only sin was their desire for music, and the passion to celebrate free love, spirit and freedom”.
