The massive dance music extravaganza, Creamfields South, will not be returning to Essex next year. Instead, organizers have decided to combine their two events into one mega festival in the north of England. For the past two years, Creamfields South has graced Hylands Park in Chelmsford, featuring dance music legends like Calvin Harris and Eric Prydz. This offshoot event stemmed from the primary Creamfields festival held annually in Cheshire. Nevertheless, it has been officially announced that in 2024, both events will merge to create a singular festival up north during the August bank holiday weekend. So all of that fancy marketing-speak translates to: Creamfields South is being dropped, probably due to low sales, and Creamfields North will revert to just being Creamfields.
This development is disappointing for the Chelmsford borough, given the economic benefits the festival brought to the city. Chelmsford City Council has stated that it will explore alternative event opportunities for the park in the upcoming year since it maintains a contract with the event organizers. The council also expressed its good wishes for Creamfields’ success in their future endeavors.
The next installment of Creamfields is scheduled to make a comeback in the Cheshire countryside during the August Bank Holiday (August 22-25) next year. As expected, it promises to bring another remarkable lineup, featuring the crème de la crème of the dance music scene. Just this year, the festival showcased an impressive roster of artists, including Andy C, Eric Prydz, Gorgon City, Swedish House Mafia, Fatboy Slim, Calvin Harris, Four Tet, CamelPhat, Armin van Buuren, and countless others. This demonstrates their commitment to delivering top-notch curation, leaving no expense spared. Those who attended the festival this year were able to secure their passes via the loyalty sale that took place, which saw 75% of the available passes fly off the shelves.
