The second era of the Swedish House Mafia has been marked by a series of unreal new releases. This weekend, the latest of these releases showed up for the first time at this year’s Ultra Japan edition. Two of the Swedish supergroup members presented their latest track. Swedish House Mafia’s newest ID is rumored to be titled ‘Not Yesterday’ and appears to sound heavily influenced by today’s future garage sound, similar to Fred Again’s.. style.
Ultra Japan, one of the most iconic festivals on the eastern side of the world took place this weekend. Boasting a small yet solid lineup, some of the biggest names in today’s mainstream and underground dance music scene gathered to give Tokyo two of the best days of partying this summer seen.
Headlining the festival were Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso. Two out of the three members of the Swedish House Mafia. Known for their explosive, more melodic-centered performances, the duo delivered an impeccable set. Yet another perfectly curated DJ set. Certainly, one of the weekend’s best performances. It was filled with some crowd favorites, some well-curated new tracks, and just a sprinkle of IDs. Amongst all of these tracks, one specific ID has certainly caught the attention of the group’s fans.
Not Yesterday, Swedish House Mafia’s New ID
Titled ‘Not Yesterday’ this new track is a fast-paced id, filled with percussions that have clear garage influences. It definitely sounds like something influenced by the new wave of sounds brought forward by Fred Again.. and Skrillex. The Swedes are no strangers to this new sound. Having collaborated with Fred Again.. in the past, it’s of no surprise that the trio has incorporated these sounds into their arsenal.
The result, an ethereal, yet filled with groove drop, is definitely on track to become, by all means, a chart-topper.
