The Brooklyn Mirage turned into a disco dance hall last Sunday as dance music aficionados gathered to witness an electrifying performance by none other than Purple Disco Machine. The disco dance pioneer put on two shows back to back in one day, bringing disco vibes and soulful dance energy to thousands of fans in attendance.
Unfortunately, mother nature was not kind to those in attendance as it was raining all throughout the day time show and night time show. I personally did not attend the day show but the the pure energy of the crowd and the colorful visuals from the Mirage ultrawide screens more than made up for the rain. Additionally, he had a talented team of 4 dancers that rocked the stage in all types of dance styles and also did multiple outfit changes. Ponchos were also given out to those in the crowd that wanted it but there were still many that decided to brave the rain without them and that’s definitely respectable.
Purple Disco Machine, the maestro of modern disco, took the stage and immediately cast a spell on the audience. His signature blend of disco, funk, and house music served as a sonic spell, captivating the crowd from the very first beat. The energy was intoxicating, and it was clear that this was going to be a night to remember. Throughout the 2 hour performance, he skillfully weaved through his repertoire, delivering a seamless fusion of classics and contemporary tracks and remixes. He really showcased his expansive dj mixing arsenal and threw in 80’s remixes such as for ‘Don’t You Wan’t Me‘, to classics such as Daft Punk’s ‘One More Time‘. His original track ‘Body Funk‘ got the crowd ecstatic as it sent everyone into a dancing and grooving frenzy. Other memorable tracks the disco don played included ‘Substitution‘, ‘Dopamine‘, and his remix for Lizzo’s ‘About Damn Time‘. He closed the set with ‘Hypnotized‘ which was fitting for the two hours that he had the crowd in a trance.
