Meduza‘s “Piece of Your Heart” has made it on to the soundtrack of the first episode of HBO’s new show, The Idol.
“Piece of Your Heart” is a song by Italian production trio Meduza, featuring British vocal trio Goodboys, that was released in February 2019. It peaked at number two on the UK Singles Chart and topped the US Dance Club Songs chart. It was also nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording in 2020 and has close to a billion streams on Spotify.
“Piece of Your Heart” is a catchy and danceable song that has become a commercial hit. The song was written by Meduza members Simone Giani, Luca de Gregorio, and Mattia Vitale, along with Goodboys members Joshua Grimmett, Conor Blake, and Nathan Cross. It was produced by both trios and inspired by a conversation between Meduza and Goodboys about the feeling of being in love.
The song’s title is a reference to the song “Piece of My Heart” by Janis Joplin and it has been used in several commercials and television shows. Now, another television show has added it to their soundtrack.
The Idol is a drama television series created by Sam Levinson and The Weeknd for HBO, which premiered on June 4. The series stars Lily-Rose Depp as Jocelyn, an aspiring pop star who strikes up a complex relationship with a self-help guru and cult leader named Tedros, played by Abel Tesfaye, aka The Weeknd. The series also stars Troye Sivan, Debby Ryan and Anne Heche.
The Idol is a dark and provocative series that explores the themes of addiction, abuse, and power. It is a cautionary tale about the dangers of fame and the importance of self-awareness. The series has seen its share of controversy already and been compared to other sinister shows like Euphoria and Sharp Objects.
We expect to see plenty of The Weeknd’s music on the show but tune in every Sunday on HBO to catch more EDM tracks.
