One of the biggest labels in dance music turned 20 years old this week. Armin van Buuren co-founded Armada Music and has grown it enormously over the years. In April, they revealed their first episode of the documentary series ‘Armada Music 20 Years Classics.’ It is a deep dive into the history of dance music and its most seminal artists and hits, commissioned especially for Armada’s 20th anniversary.
The first episode features a behind-the-scenes look at the creation and legacy of Joe Smooth’s ‘Promised Land.’ It includes an exclusive interview with the producer and DJ who is credited as one of the pioneers of house music.
This year also marks the 10-year anniversary of Armin’s signature hit ‘This Is What It Feels Like’. It was a track that took the world by storm, especially in the United States. Armin has always been a pioneer in EDM in the U.S.
In addition to the documentary series, they will be holding 20th-anniversary celebrations throughout the year to honor the legacy of dance music. There will also be a launch of a fan-voted Armada Music Top 100 list, stay tuned.
