DJ Max Vangeli is a name that is synonymous with energy, electrifying music, and packed dance floors. His work as a duo with AN21 during the Golden Era of EDM marked an entire generation. He has been at the forefront of the electronic dance music scene for over a decade. From his early beginnings as a DJ in his hometown of San Francisco to playing at some of the biggest music festivals around the world, Max Vangeli has cemented his place as one of the most sought-after DJs in the industry.
Max Vangeli’s music style was once defined as high-energy and dynamic, characterized by powerful basslines, driving beats, and euphoric melodies. He draws influence from various genres such as progressive house, electro house, and big room, infusing his unique style into every track he produces.
Now, after years of dominating the scene, changing and adapting his sound, Max Vangeli’s next project is here.
Wish You Were Here
Described by the producer himself as “the beginning of a new journey”, this album is both a new journey and a homecoming. The Moldovan, San Francisco-based DJ returns to his progressive roots and reunites the sounds that took him to the top of the game with today’s modern weapons.
In recent years, Max Vangeli has continued to evolve his sound, experimenting with new production techniques and incorporating different elements into his music. For his newest album, Max digs deep into his new sounds, and his old ones. You’ll find a more minimalistic approach on the percussive side, a deeper, and more refined version of Vangeli’s original sound.
Through 12 tracks featuring a group of talented and well-chosen collaborators, Vangelis brings together the best of both worlds. He takes us back to the days of Armada and SIZE Records and places the most iconic sounds of that era right into today’s scene. You can find the full tracklist below:
Thoughts On The Album
After a couple of listens, I can honestly say I’m surprised by this album. Lately, we’ve seen many mainstage interpretations of the genres that dominate today’s scene. KX5, GORDO, VER:WEST, The new Swedish House Mafia. DJs who took over during the golden era of EDM adapt their sounds to bring introduce them to today’s dancefloors. Sometimes it goes right. Sometimes it doesn’t. This time, it did. Max Vangeli brings the most vital elements of his persona into a blend of all the learning he’s done these past years. The result is an absolute hybrid monster.
