Regardless of which profession one chooses in life, they will eventually meet and be trained by someone who will end up as their mentor. Just ask Fred again.. and Brian Eno. These two profilic UK-born producers have unleashed an increasingly ambient album called Secret Life on Text Records, a record label run by Four Tet.
With Fred and Brian’s collaborative LP out in the open, let’s look back a bit. The pair have been working together since 2014 after Fred was credited with writing tracks from Brian’s albums Someday World and High Life. This led the pair to become each other’s mentors as their respective careers progressed.
Fred again.. is currently having an excellent 2023. Not only he produced and released tracks with Skrillex and Four Tet, but he also joined them for a number of surprise DJ sets at Times Square and Madison Square Garden in New York City, and Coachella in Indio, California.
As for Brian Eno, the legendary musician has been around the scene since the 1970s. From producing material for the likes of Coldplay, U2, David Bowie, and Damon Albarn to his very own work such as his 2022 album ‘ForeverAndEverNoMore’, Eno has an incredibly extensive discography.
Secret Life, which was announced on May 2nd, explores a far more calming and relaxing side of Brian and Fred’s music production. There has been nothing but praise for the album by Four Tet, who hails it as “the most beautiful album of 2023“.
‘Secret Life’ is available now on Text Records.
