Marshmello and Puerto Rican singer and rapper Farruko released their new single, “Esta Vida” today. The artists surprised fans by closing out Marshmello’s Ultra Music Festival set with a debut performance of the track.
‘Esta Vida’ translates to “This Life” and the official music video, directed by Justice Silvera, also dropped today. It stars both artists but shows the duality of Farruko living two lives: one as a man who is homeless, and another as a celebrity surrounded by fame and fortune before his descent.
Grammy-nominated artist and producer Marshmello has had a number of Latin collaborations lately. He teased another unreleased track during his recent EDC Mexico performance alongside Mexican artists Fuerza Regida and Peso Pluma. The “Esta Vida” release comes Marshmello’s latest collaboration with Manuel Turizo, the track “El Merengue,” which has more than 87.5 Million combined streams. It has also placed on Spotify’s Global Top 50 and Apple Music’s Latin Top 50, made Shazam’s #5 Latin song and trended on YouTube’s Top 5. It’s also currently #1 on the Tropical Airplay Chart, a new first for Marshmello.
The famously masked Marshmello first gained international recognition in early 2015 by publishing remixes online. Since then, he has become one of the top 50 most streamed artists in the world on Spotify and the third-most-subscribed artist on YouTube. He’s collaborated with artists like Juice WRLD, Halsey, Khalid, Demi Lovato, Bastille, Kane Brown, Selena Gomez, Jonas Brothers and plenty more. Multiple songs of his have been certified multi-platinum in several countries and he has 13 billion streams across Spotify.
He’s also proven himself as a businessman creating his own brand of chocolate-filled marshmallows and launching the second season of his cooking show, Cooking With Marshmello, which has a global audience of over 250 million fans. He was also named the music curator for the 2022-2023 NFL Season and became the first artist to partner with Coca-Cola and co-create a limited edition flavor.
