Hooray for Australia! Today, Australia became the first country to approve the use of two psychedelics for medical purposes. The psychedelics in question are MDMA, better known by its street name ecstasy, and psilocybin found mainly in mushrooms. This marks a historical move, as Australia becomes the first country to approve both substances for medical use. The reactions to the legalization of these psychedelic substances have been mixed.
The dance music community and psychedelics have always been intertwined. Although there’s a big part of the community that tries to deny it, it is next to impossible. And so, the dance music community has always been one filled with activists and people who are dedicated to raising awareness regarding drug usage. This, of course, is not only limited to preventing deads. In the latest years, the scientific community has opened itself more and more to different types of treatments. Now, it is finally time for one of the most ancient groups of mind-altering substances known to man to make a comeback into the medical spotlight. It’s time, for psychedelics to return.
Psychedelics: The Answer in the Battle Against Depression and PTSD?
Numerous studies have shown that both MDMA and psilocybin can prove quite useful when fighting PTSD and depression, respectively. There are numerous cases of war veterans who’ve managed to heal their PTSD by taking MDMA. People take psilocybin as part of treatments that involve helping terminal patients make peace with their condition. All over the world, there are more and more examples of successful treatments in which psychedelics are the key. Certainly, it is worth looking into. The pandemic allowed people to step back and understand how important mental health is. Now, maybe it’s time to look into how to treat its diseases the right way.
