Sunny Lax returns to Anjunabeats for his first release of 2023 with the Ruby EP. Since 2006, Levente Márton has been a mainstay on the label. His first releases included ‘P.U.M.A.‘ and ‘Cassiopeia‘. Now, he’s grown from his 140 BPM uplifting trance to the progressive side of trance. He flourishes with the likes of Above & Beyond, Ilan Bluestone, and Oliver Smith to name a few.
‘Archons‘ starts off the EP with heavy hitting percussion and a pandering bassline characteristic of Sunny’s new deeper, darker sound. It builds up and breaks down in melody, with a reverberating pulse that echos on and on as you listen. It’s hypnotic and interstellar by all accounts. Now, ‘By My Side‘ carries a slightly uplifting yet melancholic melody we love about him and paired with the dark bass line. Vocal-led trance sung angelically breathes so much emotion into you. But everything is ok as it states. The synth work in the background is superb and holds so much emotion when it drops. ‘Harayn‘ rounds out the EP with its impeccable production. Your lead on a journey as it progresses from a curious beginning to a cosmic auditory sensation in the middle. This sound is darker than the other two but every bit stunning like the rest of his releases.
“The Ruby EP is an experimental fusion between the old and new Sunny Lax. It showcases the artistic freedom that I have always wanted to reach: where I’m able to explore new genres, unusual sounds, arrangements, and darker vibes than usual.”
Sunny Lax
Ruby EP follows the success of his Emerald EP, with three more trademark Sunny Lax tracks. A&B even played ‘Archons’ during their ABGT 500 set at Banc of California Stadium last year. Of course don’t forget to listen to the extended mixes of each track. Listen to the Ruby EP below.
