The Finnish musician shared the news about his debut album as a solo act, plus his first tour dates to celebrate it.
Paavo Siljamäki is most known for his role in the legendary Trance trio Above & Beyond, he being the mastermind behind the moving pianos and harmony sections that define their sound. His way of playing the piano is a signature element to the band’s listeners: certain chords, the softness in the pressing of the keys, and long, sustained notes.
Although Paavo’s place in the trance group is, mainly, what made him famous, he’s worked on several projects in the past, being part of other teams like Aalto alongside Super8, or Dirt Devils, Free State, and Anjunabeats (yes, before the label there was a duo) with A&B member Jono Grant. Perhaps his most successful solo alias is P.O.S, with tracks like ‘Remember [Summer Sun]‘ and ‘Autumn‘ with Mike Koglin being released under said name, contributing to shaping the 2000’s iconic trend now popularly called the Anjunabeats Classics sound.
It’s with this alias that Paavo’s announced he’ll be adding to his discography by debuting an album all by himself.
P.O.S’ Deeper Tales
Siljamäki’s first solo album will be called Deeper Tales, and will be a collection of his most intimate art expressions since Above & Beyond’s Flow State Ambient and Meditation LP. He states nature inspires his creations now more than ever, since he’s been going through tough times and ultimately, he’s recovered from his recent burnout by reconnecting with the world around him. In his recent Instagram post, he also states his alias is all about letting the mind roam free: “the whole P.O.S project is about allowing this fertile ground for creativity“.
“While sailing, I synchronise with the sunrise and sunset, like being aligned with nature. There’s something about being closer with nature that is really healing, and very inspiring.” -Paavo Siljamäki
Kyan – Lonely River (P.O.S & anamē Remix)
Even though we don’t yet have a date for the release of Deeper Tales (although we know it’s coming out sometime on Spring), we do have the first snippet of it released today in the form of ‘Lonely River‘, a conjoint rework of the homonymous song by singer Kyan, in which anamē (Marcus Schössow & Thomas Sagstad) and Kyan himself are also involved. The song was first showcased during P.O.S’ Anjunadeep Open Air Los Angeles set, together with a long list of IDs we’ll most likely be getting on the album.
