UPDATE: Apparently, the soundtrack includes a collaboration between The Weeknd, Swedish House Mafia and Simon Fraglen called ‘Nothing is Lost (You Give Me Strength)’.
The new Avatar movie is finally coming to the cinemas. Such a big film could not be released without a proper soundtrack. Nowadays, movies have opted not only for traditionally composed soundtracks but for a new approach. This has brought multiple new genres into the industry of movie soundtracks. Dance music has been one of the main soundtracks of this generation’s life. It is no surprise, then, that some of their most prominent exponents are joining the ranks of movie soundtracks. The latest appears to be the Swedish House Mafia. Joining singer and producer The Weeknd, the trio posted an image that has got everyone relating them to James Cameron’s latest sequel.
If you haven’t seen the trailer for Cameron’s latest sequel, you can check it out above. ‘Avatar’ packed innovative techniques, technology, and the never seen elements it brought onto the industry. Movies like this are not only characterized by their visual elements, but by their auditive ones as well.
The last years marked the inclusion of new genres into the soundtrack of movies. The best example, perhaps, is that of hip-hop. Rappers have taken on the task of creating entire soundtracks for visual material, and, in some stances, the latter has been created by them to support their musical releases. The results have been amazing. A new way of connecting songs and visual messages for the artist that have dominated this era.

As shown in the title image, the Swedish House Mafia is just one of the latest groups to join this trend. A couple of days the trio took to Instagram to post the same image. It depicts a blue A in the style of Cameron’s masterpiece. In the story, another name is mentioned. An artist which has, in the past, been an integral part of SHM’s return. This artist is none other than The Weeknd. Arguably one of the top 3 biggest artists in the world, this seems to announce a collaboration between these 4 artists could soon be coming.
