SILO, a new club is opening in New York City earlier next year.
Opening on February 10, SILO holds up to a capacity of 500 which isn’t too small or too large. Located in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn, it will be an immersive, carbon neutral, multi-genre music and event space – fitting for such an open and cultural neighborhood. The club hopes to become a beacon of diversity and promote gender equality and other community initiatives to make SILO a welcoming addition to its neighbors.
On opening day, SILO has prepared an exciting lineup featuring Josh Wink, Hiroka Yamamura, and a special all nighter set from Eli Escobar.
According to the founders, the name SILO “captures the industrial feel of the space and the neighborhood, like a military missile silo. It also feels like a grain silo (big vertical cylinder) turned on its side.”
While the converted hangar SILO may look plain and industrial on the outside, the interior has been refurnished and vastly enhanced to make for a standout design. Fit to deliver an immersive audiovisual experience, SILO comes with a a custom 40,000 watt Danley sound system and a dancefloor with a fully custom lighting and projection system featuring eight high-contrast projectors stitched together to form a seamless 8K image mapped onto the ceiling and wall.
After 3 years of careful planning from a talented and creative team, SILO is finally ready to be open to the public. Here’s what founder Alex Neuhausen has to say about the new venture:
“Our core team is a group of people who became friends throwing nightlife events together, and then we turned it into a business. If you’ve seen ‘Slumdog Millionaire,’ there’s this ongoing theme that random events in the main character’s life have conspired to give him the exact knowledge he needs to win a million dollars on a gameshow. I sometimes feel that way about how I met the team that runs SILO.”
