The borrowed development site that has been used for Space Park events will no longer remain a home base for the Miami coalition after its planned Art Basel events finish in a few weeks. As a matter of fact, they recently announced that they will move to a permanent home in the future. However, the coalition’s statement did not reveal its next home’s location. Many are disappointed to see them go, as it was a site that was appreciated by many attendees.
Space Park Miami did two years of events at the initial location. It started out at the end of 2020, in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. Club Space debuted the idea with a New Year’s Eve event in December 2020, where Artbat and Rony Seikaly performed. The statement reflected on the beginnings of Space Park.
“The 2020 Pandemic made us stop in our tracks, yet we knew we couldn’t allow the city to lose its magic. This is where the opportunity to start a wonderful brand called Space Park was born. We put our imagination and love into it, transforming a development site into a beautiful space for community, music, art, food and most importantly, light for our city. Light to show us the way out of the pandemic as outdoor events and social distancing became possible here. We put our staff back to work and brought in local vendors to restart their engines.”
While waiting for the new home to be ready, Space Park will have pop-up events. The first one is La Solar Festival featuring artists like Jowell & Randy, Sky Rompiendo, and many more.
