The Ever After Music Festival is officially canceled. The Oro-Medonte township denied the special event permit to the organizers. Obviously, this news comes as a shock, since the festival was supposed to begin on August 12.
Initially planned to take place in Kitchener, the festival was put on hold when the pandemic hit. Since then, the event has moved to Burl’s Creek in Oro-Medonte. However, Ever After organizers failed to receive township approval for the necessary special event permit after councilors voted it down, citing concerns around the festival’s operational planning. Some artists announced early on social media that the festival will not go as planned. Dubloadz and Blankface both took on Twitter on July 29th to spread the news.
Many ticket holders of Ever After Festival continue to demand answers on the refund process. CBC Toronto interviewed some of them, and many showed frustration given the lack of information they received.
Please see below for official statement regarding the cancelation of the festival below:
Official Statement from Ever After
Dear Adventurers,
It is with great sadness and disappointment that we must officially announce the cancellation of Ever After Music Festival 2022. Throughout the course of the past two years, our team has worked tirelessly to plan and execute the biggest and best edition of Ever After yet. We relocated to Burl’s Creek Event Grounds to improve our Adventurers’ experiences by introducing camping options, providing festival-goers with more space, and making our event more accessible to all. Unfortunately, despite our tremendous investment of time, effort and commitment, we have been met with a series of obstacles from third-party decision-makers that will prevent this event from moving forward as planned.
Contrary to the various rumors that have been circulating regarding the reasons that led to Ever After 2022’s cancellation, we can assure you that we took every step necessary to satisfy the special events permit requirements. Our festival with ⅓ the attendance and 1/10th of the campers had requirements levied on it far greater than the event just one week before (which we agreed to meet) and, still, we were met with rejections. Our traffic plan was the same as the event before us, our security team was the same as the event before us, as many other parts of our plan, and the venue was purpose-built for this type of event. Let us be clear, it was not our decision to cancel. We have been forced to cancel by third parties. Of course, you will hear a different narrative from them, but we can only share what we have endured.
Whilst we very much wish this not to be the case, the cancellation of this year’s festival leaves uncertainty around the future of Ever After. We would like to thank our loyal patrons for their unwavering support and give our sincerest apologies for the inconvenience caused as a result of this devastating news. All ticket buyers will receive an e-mail with more information about their orders and their options by next week.
Respectfully,
The Ever After Team
